About Coach Kyle Padgett
The summer of 2024 brought big changes for Coach Padgett as he walked away from a 17-year coaching career across college and high school baseball. He now is a partner at Next Level Prospects, a college baseball recruiting support company that works with travel organizations and individuals. Additionally he has some very cool projects with a few other large organizations withing the baseball community (DETAILS COMING SOON...). 2024 marked Coach Kyle Padgett’s 12th and final season at the helm of the Bishop O’Connell High School baseball program. He served as a Health and Physical Education teacher at the school for 9 years in addition to coaching the baseball team. Prior to coming to O’Connell, Padgett spent 5 years as an NCAA Division 1 assistant coach at 3 different schools – William and Mary, Wake Forest University, and Duke University. He spent the summer of 2008 as an assistant coach for the Bourne Braves in the prestigious Cape Cod League. As a player, Padgett was an All-State player at Needham High School (MA) before serving as the starting shortstop for four years at William and Mary. He was drafted and signed by the Florida Marlins in the 18th round of the MLB Draft in 2005 following his college career, and spent three seasons playing professional baseball before beginning his coaching career. He has coached over 50 players who have gone on to play professionally and 8 who’ve made it all the way to the Major Leagues including New York Yankees pitcher (and Gold Glove Award Winner and MVP of the World Baseball Classic) Marcus Stroman, 2017 Homerun Derby participant Justin Bour, and 2016 World Series Champion Justin Grimm. He currently lives in Vienna, VA with his wife and three daughters.
